Position Title: District Manager

Reports to:  Director of Stores and Visual Merchandising

 

FSLA: Exempt

 

Position Summary: The District Manager is responsible for the successful operations of the store teams to deliver the financial and brand objectives.  This is achieved by exercising independent judgment and discretion in developing and articulating strategies to drive their territory store revenues and business.  This is done through recruiting, developing and motivating teams to deliver the company's vision, customer experience and financial strategies for the stores in an assigned district. The scope of work includes management of sales, operations and human resources to ensure maximum productivity and profitability. The District Manager will lead the district through inspiring and directed communication, team building and establishing effective business relationships.

Job Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

People:

  • Create positive employee relations through building, developing and leading quality store management teams that achieves financial and brand objectives.
  • Mentors, guides and sponsors the development of key talent
  • Partner with HR to ensure ethics and compliance initiatives are supported
  • Ensures on-going specific and immediate coaching and feedback, and delivering of all performance documentation in timely manner.
  • Develop and support operational processes that create standardization to achieves efficiencies and best practices
  • Demonstrates creativity and strength in the face of change and adversity
  • Reinforce Peek customer experience guide
  • Network and recruit to build a solid external bench strength
  • Assesses the effectiveness of the store leadership team members by providing the appropriate level of performance feedback
  • Creates development and training plans for direct reports
  • Ensures recruitment from a diverse applicant pool
  • Develops succession plans for all Store Managers
  • Responsible for employee dispute resolution and escalated customer situations

Financial performance:

  • Align strategies to develop; implement and monitor action plans to ensure achievement of financial goals.
  • Drive sales results by analyzing business results and creating action plans
  • Communicate clear corporate strategies and goals, monitors progress and ensures store managers do the same.
  • Provides Corporate with feedback and analysis on store business through weekly recaps
  • Partner with planning and allocation to optimize company inventory to ensure
  • Adapts to competing demands and shifting priorities.
  • Accountable for meeting district payroll and expense budgets
  • Manages operational execution
  • Ensure Loss Prevention policies and practices are being followed
  • Partner with Director of Stores & Visual Merchandising to ensure Peek visual standards and seasonal directionProduct and Visual Merchandising:
  • Train Store Management team in Visual Merchandising expectations, tools and resources and execution techniques.
  • Holds store team accountable to visual Standards through store visits, photos and feedback.
  • Analyze market trends with merchandising to ensure an effective strategy exists that drive sales revenue opportunities and achieve visual merchandising standards.

 

Leadership:

  • Drives brand loyalty by leading an outstanding internal and external customer experience
  • Ensures community involvement to drive brand awareness and loyalty
  • Leads and inspires customer centric culture by recognizing and rewarding team 
  • Keeps the store leadership team abreast of corporate direction through one on ones and management meetings

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Perform additional duties as assigned by Peek management from time to time
  • Comply fully with all Peek rules and regulations for the safe and effective operation of the store and all Peek facilities

Required Skills:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; clear, concise and to the point.
  • Ability to collaborate with colleagues at all levels.  Must be a tactful and diplomatic communicator, able to interface seamlessly with a wide variety of people
  • Proven ability to prioritize effectively and manage competing priorities
  • Able to work autonomously
  • Adapts management style as necessary

Qualifications/Experience:

  • The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years retail management experience, preferable in Children’s apparel/or premium apparel retail.
  • Well-versed in communicating with all levels in a professional, results-driven manner
  • Experience in a fast-paced, growing, ever changing environment
  • Excellent presentation skills with the ability to articulate seasonal ideas and strategies to all levels of management
  • Proven problem analysis and problem resolution skills at both a strategic and functional level
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and point of sales
  • Ability to travel 80% of time
  • Strong eye for fashion
  • Retail math knowledge
  • Ability to perform effective selling techniques to achieve sale and repeat business
  • This position is based in Texas, Southern California or Seattle
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including holidays and weekends

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Lift /carry/move 40 lbs maximum including fixtures and product
  • Requires standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, listening, speaking and visual acuity
  • Must have finger dexterity to be able to operate office equipment
