Retail Operations Analyst

Peek Kids is growing and we're looking for an Operations Analyst to join our retail operations team. This is a small and nimble start-up team and we're looking for a unique set of characteristics in our team members - you should be a critical thinker, a self-starter, be able to embrace ambiguity and change and a person who knows how to get things done via cross-functional relationships.

Reporting to the Director of Stores, the Retail Operations Analyst will serve as the primary business liaison, providing project support and analysis across all store operations areas. Demonstrating a strong understanding of the overall retail business systems, this position will analyze various data sets as well as key performance indicators to identify risk and opportunity that will improve overall performance and profitability.   

The ideal candidate should be comfortable working independently as well as partnering with stakeholders and subject matter experts to drive the work of integrated projects and programs.


  • Provide analysis and insights on business results and sales/expense opportunities to retail field leaders and cross-functional partners to advise and influence strategic decisions/priorities for the retail stores.
  • Partner cross functionally to understand and document business processes, developing solutions, gather requirements and create implementation plans for new projects/solutions, existing systems enhancements and production fixes.
  • Utilize business insights and various data sets to drive results, create business justification and projected ROI to support projects and initiatives, and create measurements for success.
  • Collaborate with business partners to identify new opportunities within existing store processes and technologies to increase revenue, maximize efficiency or reduce expenses.
  • Coordinate and reconcile annual physical inventory and periodic cycle counts.
  • Serve as the operations project lead working on any IT initiative for the store point-of sale system, providing operational expertise and knowledge across all standard operating and reporting procedures.
  • Monitors shrink at store level, conduct exception analysis, and recommend remedial action.
  • Monitors accuracy of daily sales revenue and bank deposits.
  • Oversees cash handling and investigates exceptions.
  • Oversees inventory management processes for all retail stores, including refining standards standards and procedures as warranted.



Finance/Sales Audit

  • Month end POS tender reconciliation
  • Maintain transactions types, tender types and discount types list in POS 


  • Track and analyze KPI results and provide company averages and top performers to stakeholders
  • Ensure stores have successfully closed and polled nightly
  • Create and distribute weekly, monthly store reporting
  • Analyze marketing and promotional activities to determine the impact to the business


  • Assist field organization with inventory management
  • Perform and reconcile physical inventory and period cycle counts


  • Partner with IT to support POS system functionality to improve performance and efficiency.
  • Partner with IT on POS functionality to support business needs such as marketing, finance, and operational initiatives.
  • Document, create and support all POS training initiatives.


As our Retail Operations Analyst, we’d like you to have the following experience, skills and education:

  • A minimum of 3 years experience in business analysis and operations
  • Demonstrated knowledge of retail operations and systems environment preferred, including time/attendance, Point-of-Sale, Shipping/Receiving, Inventory Management, and various SaaS applications – bonus points for Island Pacific experience.
  • Ability to translate complex situations into simple working solutions
  • Technically proficient -  MS Excel, Access, Project, SQL
  • Good business acumen, extremely process oriented. Good trouble-shooting skills with a successful track record of removing project road blocks and engineering business solutions to both technical and non-technical problems
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills with the ability to effectively influence business decisions
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills to interface with internal customers, management and outside vendors
  • Deadline oriented and highly disciplined
  • Bachelor’s degree; Business or Management Information Systems preferred
